Statistics:

Your dryer vent is one of those forgotten vents in your home that either runs to the roof or outside the side of an outer wall. What you may not realize is the potential hazard it may create if you do not clean it annually.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission  estimates that in 1998 clothes dryers were associated with 15,600 fires, resulting in 20 deaths and 370 injuries. Fires can occur when lint builds up in the dryer or in the exhaust duct. Lint can block the flow of air, cause excessive heat build-up, and result in a fire in some dryers. To help prevent fires, clean the dryer vent and exhaust duct periodically.

SOME FACTS ABOUT DRYER VENT CLEANING

People in the modern world try to get rid of household dust completely with a lot of inventions and technologies like the vacuum cleaner. Some particles are so tiny that they can float in the air for days and you can find them in the most unimaginable places like vents and ducts:

  • Dryer vents are apertures or openings on moisture-removing equipment, e.g. cloth dryers. There is often a hose or channel connected to the vent, which conducts the heat and moisture to the outdoors.
  • Air ducts are passages (most often pipe-like) used for ventilating, air conditioning / supplying air, heating, and extracting air. Air ducts are means of making sure that the air inside is safer than the air on the outside. The system put in place to ensure this is called duct work.

What to Expect from a Professional Dryer Vent & Air Duct Cleaning

A professional air duct and dryer vent cleaning includes the cleaning of all the nooks and crannies of the duct work and dryer hose.  From inside and outside the house with the right equipment and expertise. It is not all about using a vacuum to clean. Which is why professionals use different instruments.
